YARINA (Quartet): Barside

Doors & Show 4 PM
Free for Bar Patrons | Quartet Gig
Founded in 1984 by José Manuel Cachimuel and Rosa Elena Amaguaña, YARINA began as a family effort to amplify the voices of Ecuador’s indigenous people through music. Their three eldest children—Roberto, Manuel, and Rimay—took on musical roles at ages 10, 12, and 15, using performance to raise awareness around human rights and representation.
Now with eleven siblings and a new generation joining the ensemble, Yarina continues its mission as Ecuador’s official indigenous cultural ambassadors (since 2002). Their music, rooted in the Kichwa traditions of Otavalo, blends ancient instruments like the charango, kena, and rondador with guitar, drums, and vocals to celebrate love, community, and justice.
Yarina has performed at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and major festivals, earning top awards in world and folk music. They also run a music school in Otavalo, preserving the Kichwa language and musical heritage for future generations. This is a quartet gig!
