Grateful Wednesday with Playing Dead feat. The Coalboilers

Experience the Ultimate Grateful Dead Tribute: Playing Dead!
Playing Dead is a Grateful Dead tribute featuring former members of Dark Star Orchestra, Slipknot!, and Uncle John's Band. Their marathon sets feature music and jams from the entire Grateful Dead catalog. Playing Dead faithfully recreates the experience of a live Grateful Dead concert. The music of The Grateful Dead is a complex stew of different styles of music including rock, blues, jazz, folk, bluegrass and more. Their improvisational style and large repertoire guaranteed that every musical performance would be unique. Every Playing Dead show is equally unique featuring different set lists each night and exciting improvisational jams.
The Coalboilers are an acoustic duo from Boston's North Shore area however unlike any other "acoustic duo" you may have seen or heard. Gary Backstrom and Charley Carrozo have developed a near telepathic bond in their musical expression where they are able to move seamlessly through improvisational instrumental and vocal jams, sometimes playing two hour sets one song into the next without stopping or ever planning the set list. Gary is a true virtuoso on guitar and creates magic every time he plays a solo. Charley's rhythm guitar playing holds down the grooves but also allows for spur of the moment reinterpretations of whatever song they are playing. The chemistry between Gary and Charley is the result of over two decades playing shows together but was also there from their very first show at The Attic in Newton, MA in 1996 in the building they are named after. There is nothing out there quite like The Coalboilers and their shows have to be seen to be believed.
