Anita "AJ" Wood is a versatile vocalist with roots in musical theatre and a cappella and has since dove head first into the jazz scene. AJ has had the pleasure of being the lead vocalist of the Chelmsford Jazz Ensemble since June 2022 where she rediscovered her love of the American Songbook. After fully immersing in the local Jazz Jam circuit, musical connections became apparent. As each month passed AJ and her “pocket drummer” built relationships with other players who shared their same devotion to music. Their diverse musical backgrounds combined with their profound love for music quickly led to the formation of AJ and the Groove. Together they breathe new life to jazz standards by twisting the expected. The AJ and the Groove Trio features  Anita “AJ” Wood on vocals, Karl Helmer on guitar and Rose Villani on bass.
