John Fitz: Barside

John Fitzsimmons, aka “Fitz,” is an award winning folksinger, songwriter, poet, storyteller and published author from Maynard, Massachusetts. Fitz is well known for his decades-long career in the New England pub scene, and he is particularly famous for his forty-five years of weekly gigs at the Colonial Inn in Concord, MA which continue to this day. He also holds the fort monthly every first Wednesday at The Sanctuary in Maynard, MA, No matter where he plays, each performance is a lively mix of his music, his stories, his poetry, his abiding wit, and his ability to hold any crowd spellbound and engaged.
Fitz is especially well-known for his extensive repertoire of traditional folk music, Celtic ballads, Irish sing-alongs, camp songs, modern classics, and a range of well-crafted original songs which are available on most streaming platforms, including Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music. His songs are delivered with a “deep and resonant baritone voice”--a voice the great bluesman, Hatrack Gallagher, notes as “one in a million.” His three-years-long, weekly shows during Covid, led by his wife Denise, engaged thousands of viewers across the world and brought a soothing normality and a touch of community during a along and trying time.
